Hollywood's premier prankster and Star Trek's Mr Spock play lovers in the feature film - which tells the true story of gay activist Michael Glatze (played by Franco).

Glatze - founder of Young Gay America - renounced his sexuality following a heart scare. He left San Francisco and joined the Mormons.

Emma Roberts and Daryl Hannah are among the supporting cast in the film, which is to be released next year in the US.
