James Franco To Release The Smiths Inspired Album

James Franco has confirmed plans to release an album, inspired by The Smiths.

The actor, who is in band called Daddy with his former Rhode Island School of Design classmate Tim O'Keefe- will release Let Me Get What I Want next year.

[related]Franco's poetry The Best of the Smiths: Side A and Side B - which has been inspired by the work of Morrissey and Co - will be turned into music for the LP.

During an interview with Vice, Franco explained: "I originally wrote this sequence as a way to use one medium (music) to influence another one (poetry).

"The Smiths' songs provided inspiration for the poems, lending tone and situation. Once I had the sequence, Tim and I took the material one step further and turned the poems inspired by songs, back into songs of their own."

The Smith's former drummer Andy Rourke will also play on the album.

It is thought that each track for the LP will come complete with an accompanying video, which will feature original artwork created by James from his time at art school.
