Jamie Foxx hit the big screen as villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earlier this year.

But now the 46-year-old star has revealed that he almost ended up playing another Marvel Comics character - Luke Cage.

Speaking to IGN, he said: "I was actually approached for Luke Cage back in the day, but it didn't work out at the time.

"I've always wanted to play something in this world, so it was a trip.

"It was a cool, cool thing to be in Spider-Man."

The role of Luke Cage - a hero invented at the height of the Blaxploitation movie boom - has now been linked to Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews.

Crews recently expressed his interest in playing the character for Netflix.
