Jared Leto Wants To Direct Feature Film After Oscar Win

30STM frontman tells our US Team that he's hoping to step behind the camera in the near future...

In wake of his Best Supporting Actor win at The Oscars on Sunday (March 2), Jared Leto has now revealed he wants to direct a feature length flick.

The multi-talented Leto has already proved himself a skilled director. Stepping behind the lens for the 2012 documentary Artifact, the 30 Seconds To Mars frontman documented his band's battle with their label,EMI, while recording their appropriately titled third album This Is War.

The doc was praised by critics at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it premiered, and won the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary.

And now, with an Academy Award under his belt, Leto tells MTV News US he's looking for a feature-length narrative to helm.

"I'm certainly looking for a feature film to direct after directing Artifact and all the other videos and other things that we've done over the years," he revealed at the Carnivores Tour announcement in Los Angeles.

"It's certainly leading me toward a feature length narrative film, and I'm excited about that."

But that doesn't mean he's not done acting quite yet. Leto says he's "definitely ready to act again."

Before his gripping performance as transgender AIDS patient Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, Leto hadn't appeared in a film since 2009 - as the Mr. Nobody - and there's a good reason: He always holds out for the right role.

The star explained: "I don't think I'll wait another six years but if I have to wait six years for the right project to come then I will. But I'm ready to go to work tomorrow if there is the right film. "

In the meantime, 30STM will be on tour with Linkin Park and AFI on the nationwide Carnivores Tour, which kicks off on August 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
