Jason Derulo Calls Out American Airlines For Alleged Racism
Jason Derulo slams American Airlines for being racist.
Jason Derulo had a bad experience with American Airlines recently, claiming that he was the victim of racial discrimination after an altercation over how many bags he could check in.
According to TMZ, the problem all started after Jason and eight members of his entourage arrived at Miami International Airport and tried to check in nineteen bags between them.
As he's a Concierge Key holder - and has a higher baggage allowance than the rest of us, Jason figured this wouldn't be an issue.
But, as he was already on the plane, and had left behind the job of checking-in bags to just one person, American Airlines refused to do it for free.
When Jason's friend called him up to explain he'd have to pay $6k for excess luggage, he wasn't too happy about it.
Jason ordered the the plane to head back to the gate, but, when he eventually got off, he was met by fifteen police officers.
Posting a message on Instagram about what happened, Jason said: "I spent millions on your airline throughout the past ten years between myself and my entire staff but have still experienced racial discrimination today at miami airport!!!"
Claiming that it was only after the officers realised who he was that they backed off, he said: "Called 15 police officers on me as if I'm a criminal! It's not ok that when you find out who I am the gears change! Fuck that!! I want answers."
Meanwhile, American Airlines have explained that their most elite customers only get three free checked bags, which could explain why Jason's friend was blocked from checking in nineteen.
