Jason Derulo: "It Feels Amazing To Be No.1"
EXCLUSIVE | We catch up with the star to talk about his new single...
We sat down with the 21-year old singer to talk about the potential chart-topper, with Derulo himself telling us it feels "amazing" to be ahead of current No.1, Example's Changed The Way You Kissed Me, in the Midweek countdown.
Jason continued: "When I write these songs, you never know what the reaction is going to be. This is the top of my second album and it’s a great way to start. I’ve got the fans to thank for it."
Don't Wanna Go Home features an infectious sample from the 1993 house classic, Robin S.' Show Me Love, with Derulo telling us why he decided to use the track.
He explained: "I’m in love with that bassline, it’s just really hypnotic and I just wanted to play around with it in the studio. I heard it a bunch of times in the club and I fell in love with it, like most people do."
Jason added: "It was just one of those things that happened to be magical. When I’m in the studio, I don’t try to like pre-plan things, I just try to go with the flow."
As for whether the Watcha Say hitmaker will be sticking to the dance music genre for his forthcoming LP, Future History, Derulo insisted we should expect a mixture of sounds from the record, stating: "I’m a music lover and I love all kinds of music. My next single will be totally different from this single, it won’t be another dance single."
