Zack Snyder has treated movie fans to a first look at Jason Momoa in character as comic book hero Aquaman.

And the hunky Game Of Thrones star, 35, has been given a moody modern makeover as he glowers at the camera in the publicity shot - having ditched his ponytail in favour of letting his long locks hang free.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice director Snyder captioned the snap: "There is only one true King. #unitetheseven"

And the words "unite the seven" were also superimposed over the portrait, with fans torn over whether they referred to Aquaman's domain (the seven seas) or the seven members of the Justice League - or both.

The original membership of the League in a 1960 DC Comics publication was Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and - erm - the Martian Manhunter.

Batman v Superman is due out next March, with a standalone Aquaman movie set to follow in 2018.
