Javier Bardem Lined Up To Play Frankenstein’s Monster

He's set to join Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp in the new Universal monster movies.

Classic movie monsters? So hot right now. With Universal having already signed up the likes of Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe for its revamped version of The Mummy and Johnny Depp on board to play the Invisible Man, the studio looks set to add some MORE A-list talent to its roster, with Javier Bardem in talks to play Frankenstein’s monster.

At this point it isn’t clear whether he’d be getting his own standalone movie, or whether everyone’s favourite bolt-necked brute would just exist in the shared universe being created by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. Either way though, the towering Bardem looks like a pretty good fit to us… and we mean that in the nicest way possible!

Crowe and Cruise will head up Universal’s first major reboot, The Mummy, in 2017, with two more monster movies slated for 2018 and 2019. The studio has been pretty quiet on how it’s all going to fit together, but the understanding is we can look forward to some sort of grand monster mash-up at some point down the track.

Meanwhile, rumours persist that Dwayne Johnson might be the next big name to join the party, with the former WWE star reportedly the studio’s first pick to play Wolf Man. Watch this space…
