After a 15 year career in music the rapper has finally scored a singles top spot after knocking off Owl City’s Fireflies track.

Jigga has been top of the US chart on other stars records before- guesting on Beyonce’s Crazy In Love and Rihanna’s Umbrella.

But it’s his tribute to his home city New York that is Jay’s first solo number one.

Empire State’ features Alicia Keys and the track’s popularity has been helped by storming performances at the MTV VMAs and EMAs.
