MTV News Review: We're The Millers

A family road trip flick with a stripper drug smuggling twist...

UK Release Date: August 23 2013

Certificate: 15

Running Time: 1 hour 49 minutes
Cast: Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Emma Roberts, Ed Helms
Director: Rawson Marshall Thurber
Plot: David Clark (Jason Sudeikis) is a small time pot-dealer in Denver with clients including soccer moms and chefs – but he has no wife or kids of his own. David tries to keep a low profile and the first and only time he decides to help out some local teenagers, he winds up getting beaten up and robbed by a trio of gutter punks. They steal both his stash and his cash, leaving him in serious debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms).
In order to clear his debt, he must smuggle a ‘smidge of marijuana’ over the border from Mexico. Brad manages to persuade his neighbours: cynical stripper Rose (Jennifer Aniston), socially awkward Kenny (Will Poulter) and streetwise teen Casey (Emma Roberts) that they should pose as his fake family in order to smuggle drugs over the border.

Best Scene: Kenny surprised us all when he recited Left Eye’s rap from TLC track Waterfalls word for word. The outtakes from this sequence are also worth a watch so make sure you stick around ‘til the end!

Best One Liner: Every corner and crevice of the RV is stashed full of weed and we laughed A LOT when Casey peered into the refrigerator and said: “I think Snoop Dogg would f**k this fridge.”
Date Movie or Mate Movie? Both!
Scene Stealer: Jennifer Aniston cements her place as one of Hollywood’s top hotties when she strips down to her underwear during a very sexy dance scene. If you're a Jen An fan then this scene alone is worth your trip to the cinema! She may be 44 but she looks INCREDIBLE - we salute you Jennifer!
WTF Moment: Kenny drives the RV off the road when a tarantula crawls up his shorts and bites him on his gonads. He pulls down his boxer shorts to reveal the damage to his family and there are more than a few shots of his fully bare ball bite…ouch!
Summary: Jason Sudeikis’ comedic prowess carries this film and Jennifer Aniston reminds us that she is a laugh-a-minute legend, displaying perfect timing throughout. Will Poulter is also hilarious and affirms his place as one of the UK's most exciting rising stars.
The set up of the film is fresh and one that we felt we hadn't seen before. However, there were not as many laughs as the trailer had us believe.
