The actress has stepped away from her usual comedic roles and proved she's quite the serious actor in her latest movie...
Jennifer Aniston's new film 'Cake' is generating quite the Oscar buzz.
The actress' raw performance in the indie film could earn her the best actress nomination, as she stars as a woman suffering from chronic pain and addiction issues.
The 45-year-old has already caught the attention of critics at the Toronto Film Festival, where the cast were given a standing ovation which apparently reduced Jen-An to tears.
Reports suggest that the film will be in cinemas for just one week in December so that it qualifies for Academy Awards consideration, with a wider release date set for January 2015.
Best known for her comedic performances this could be a career-changing role for her, as she well and truly steps away from her Friends character Rachel Green.
"It was a no-brainer," Jen said of her choice to star in the film. "Just reading Patrick's script I actually saw myself doing it. I just felt like it was already happening and it was pretty easy to say, 'Yes'.
"It was such a beautiful, complex, layered, tortured character. I just tapped into something I was meant to do."
