Jennifer Hudson: "American Idol Misses Simon Cowell"
EXCLUSIVE | Plus, Jen tells us she is looking forward to The X Factor USA...
The 29-year old songstress, who was a contestant on season three of the hit Stateside show, claims that despite being a fan of the new judges - Jennifer Lopez - she still thinks a character like SiCo is missing from the panel.
When asked what she thought of the new Idol judging line-up, Hudson revealed: "I like it, you would think that by having such a huge figure like Simon on the show and the impact that he’s made would effect it with him being gone and drastically change."
"I think they did a great job in the transition from the old judges to the new judges and it doesn’t feel that far off from the show."
She continued: "I love how Steve Tyler decided to sing in the middle of one audition and I was like “well, Simon can’t do that!". I love moments like that, so it was cool."
Despite being a fan of theAerosmith legend, Jennifer added that it's not the same without our very own Mr.Nasty on the show: "Of course Simon is missed. I mean, Simon is like 75% of the judging panel. Everyone wants to know what he’s thinking."
"He brought so much to it by being raw. He’s very honest and blunt with things, which I think is probably the most missed part of the show. People try and act they like don't like him, but they like him."
Speaking of the music mogul's latest venture, The X Factor USA, the Spotlight hitmaker claimed that she is looking forward to seeing what Cowell's new show is all about, confessing: "I know X Factor is coming and all of America is super excited because Simon Cowell is coming and introducing another show."
"He brought us American Idol so it’s like, 'what else does he have up his sleeve? What is this X Factor, lets check it out but out of curiosity'. America's waiting…"
As for being a judge on the show itself, Hudson explained that she wouldn't like to be fully-fledged panelist. She explained "Maybe like a little appearance here and there, and come in and give some inspiration and encouragement."
The singer added: "I don’t know how America will feel about me being a previous contestant and then going on the show and judging a contestant so I don’t know about the judging part."
Jennifer Hudson's new album, I Remember Me, is out on Monday, 25th April.
