That star of The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook was talking to the media at the Academy Awards luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday when she made the quip.
But J-Law then went on to confess that she's actually planning to "go for fashion".
Digital Spy quoted her as saying: "Last time was comfort. This year, I'm like, 'Suck it up, wear a corset. I am going to go for fashion this time."
And talking about the memorable red Calvin Klein dress that she wore for the 2011 Oscars - when she was nominated for Winter's Bone - she admitted it had been a squeeze.
"I ate a Philly cheesesteak and fries, and I was like, 'This is definitely going to help'," she said. "It didn't, 'cause I had to double-Spanx it."
