Jennifer Lawrence Is "Fearless", Says American Hustle Director

David O Russell has nothing but praise for J-Law after she bagged the Best Supporting Actress gong at last night's BAFTAs...

American Hustle director David O Russell has praised Jennifer Lawrence in wake of her Best Supporting Actress win for her role in his flick at the BAFTAs last night (February 16).

O Russell was on hand to collect the gong for absent J-Law, later telling press at the ceremony: "I'm very proud of Jennifer, I'm proud to call her my collaborator and my friend, and I'm very proud that she dove into this. She's fearless.

"It's a partnership that I cherish and hope to carry into the future. She's very daring and inspiring, she's special, so I appreciate that BAFTA recognised her. It's a big deal to us."

O Russell - who has also worked with Jennifer on Silver Linings Playbook - went on to add: "What I love most about Jennifer is her humility and her regular-ness.

"You hit her from one angle and she looks like a regular girl from Kentucky, and you hit her from another angle and she looks like the most magical, beautiful creature you've ever seen.

"Inside is a girl who just shows up and does the work and is never afraid of trying anything."

He added: "Our editor said on Silver Linings Playbook, 'I think this one was kissed by the angels', and she has to respect that. That kind of thing can be stepped on."

David is now due to work with Lawrence for a third time on a biopic about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano.
