With stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper you'd think Serenawould be a sure-fire hit, but that's not the case for his once buzzed-about indie film that's finally seeing release in the UK, years after it was filmed.

[related]Shot before J-Law and Cooper paired together in Silver Linings Playbookand American Hustle, Serenastars the power duo as love-struck newlyweds who move to the mountains of North Carolina in order to build a timber empire in the late 1920s. Dark secrets soon bubble to the surface, however, and their perfect marriage begins to quickly unravel.

Three different cuts of the film were reportedly screened for test audiences, and the results weren't exactly encouraging. According to The Hollywood Reporter, one industry buyer labelled it a disaster, saying: "The film was so edited, it made no sense." Another panned Lawrence's performance, calling it "uneven."

Fans can judge for themselves when Serenaarrives in the UK on October 24, followed by additional international dates.
