Jess Glynne Scores Debut Solo No 1 Single

As James Bay lands on top of the albums chart...

Jess Glynne has been at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart twice in the last year or so, but this weekend she returned to No 1 on her own for the first time.

The singer has previously occupied the top spot as a featured artist on Clean Bandit's Rather Be and on Route 94's My Love.

And now she's made it a hat trick with her own song Hold My Hand - and she commented: "As amazing as the other two felt, the feeling I have with this is on another level. To get a number one in my own name is one of the most insane feelings."

James Bay's Hold Back The River rose two spots to No 2, while King by Years & Years fell one place to No 3.

Kanye West, Rihanna & Paul McCartney's FourFiveSeconds fell one place to No 4 and the top five was rounded out by Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do.

While James Bay may have been held off the top spot in the singles chart, his new LP Chaos And The Calm went straight in at the top of the Official UK Albums Chart.

Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour was a non-mover at No 2, while Ed Sheeran's X climbed back up one place to No 3.

Seasick Steve's alliterative new album Sonic Soul Surfer was a new entry at No 4 and last week's No 1 - Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly - fell to No 5.
