MTV Review: Jess Glynne Sparkles At London's Roundhouse

The former Clean Bandit collaborator takes centre stage.

As Cheryl Fernandez-Versini told her category on The X Factor during Judges’ Houses a couple weeks ago – everything Jess Glynne touches turns to gold.

So we shouldn’t have really been surprised that when we turned up to Camden’s Roundhouse Wednesday night (November 4) the stage was literally covered in sparkly (albeit silver) streamers.

Giving us a distinctly old school from the get go (the music playing before Jess took to the stage included Marvin Gaye, amongst other classics), we definitely didn’t know what to expect.

What Jess’ gig turned out to be was a super soulful, almost disco-like affair, which was not only pretty unexpectedbut also VERY welcome.

Considering just how many hits she’s already had in her career, the star flew into her Clean Bandit collab Right Here within the first 10 minutes of the set.

And naturally, all of Jess’ FIVE Number One singles made an appearance during the performance, causing the crowd to practically implode with awkward-dancing bliss.

The best sing-along moment though had to be when Jess covered Tears Dry On Their Own, in Amy Winehouse’sown former hometown.

In case you were wondering, it seems like there’s no sign of slowing down yet for the North Londoner, as it was recently announced that her next release will be Take Me Home, and is even the official single of this year’s Children In Need.

Judging by just how deafening the screams were after she performed the emotional track last night, we reckon Jess is going to need to make space for a sixth Number One trophy on her ever-growing award shelf.
