Krysten Ritter 'Set To Play Marvel's Jessica Jones'

Breaking Bad star reportedly cast in Netflix series...

Another day, another Marvel character is being brought to life on screen - and this time it's Jessica Jones (bear with us) and Netflix involved.

Krysten Ritter, best known as Jesse's girl Jane in season two of Breaking Bad, is reported by Deadline to have nabbed the title role in a planned web drama series.

In the Marvel universe, Jessica Jones is one of Peter Parker's schoolmates and is present when he is bitten by the radioactive spider which causes his transformation into Spider Man.

She is later involved in a car crash which tragically kills her family and involves yet more radioactive material.

Emerging from a coma she discovers that she possesses super strength and limited invulnerability and flight.

Suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (which must be woefully under-diagnosed among superheroes), she later hangs up her cape and opens a detective agency.

The straight-to-web series is also reported to be starring Mike Colter as Luke Cage and will run across 13 episodes.

It is the second series in a four-strand deal between Netflix and Marvel - the first having seen Daredevil brought to the small screen.
