Jessie J: ‘Isle Of MTV Feels Like The Family Is Here’

EXCLUSIVE! Voice judge dishes on new album and Andrea Begley in Malta...

Jessie J has landed in Malta for this year’s Isle Of MTV saying her first impressions of the island are ‘beautiful’ and that it "feels like the family’s here".

Speaking to MTV News UK ahead of taking to the stage tonight (June 26th) alongside Rita Ora, Afrojack and Rudimental in Malta for Isle of MTV, the Wild singer said: “like the fans at the airport gave me such a great welcome and everyone’s just been so nice. It’s beautiful weather, great fans. I just can’t wait for the show. 50,000 people in this setting and it’s free, well I need to get myself here next year as a member of the crowd!”
She added: “I just think it’s amazing when music can bring people together that have never met before in one place I’m so excited to be performing alongside Rita Ora…another female UK artist that’s smashing the world to pieces and Rudimental have just come up from nowhere and everyone knows their songs.
“I saw Becky Hill who was on The Voice last year, one of my finalists, who’s on their album and on their tour so yeah it feels like the family’s here, it’s nice.”
As a judge on The Voice, we asked her about last weekend’s final which saw Andrea Begley crowned winner:
“Andrea’s an amazing singer and all of them were a deserved winner,” the Price Tag songstress replied, “I just didn’t feel like Matt’s performance meant that he should have gone out first, however I’m not the voting public so my opinion is different to theirs.
“I’m so proud of each of them you know with what they’ve achieved and I know that they’ll all be successful. Winning doesn’t mean success, it means you’ve won, if anything it means more expectation but I know that Andrea’s…own music is great so I can’t wait to hear that.”
Jessie also teased us about one of her favourite tracks on her forthcoming album…
“There’s a song on the album called Daydreaming,” she revealed. “It’s one of my personal favourites and it’s very 80s. It’s a very Prince-y, Whitney vibe. That’s one of my favourites. I think it’s gonna be one of the best ones to sing live.”
You’ll be able to watch highlights from Isle Of MTV in Malta this August.
