Joan Rivers 'Comfortable' After Suffering Heart Attack
Funnywoman apparently lost conciousness during surgery...
Veteran comedienne Joan Rivers is described as being "comfortable" in hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The 81-year-old entertainer, famed for her acerbic style and bad-taste jokes, is reported to have stopped breathing during surgery on her vocal chords.
She was apparently rushed from Yorkville Endoscopy to nearby Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan - and was later described as being in stable condition.
Her spokesman told the New York Daily News that she was "not conscious, but she's stable".
And her daughter Melissa Rivers told E! News: "I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother.
"She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
One of the longest-lasting comics in the business, Rivers' career has stretched from the 1960s comedy club scene in Greenwich Village to her current job on E! show Fashion Police.
