Joaquin Phoenix Could Play The Joker In New DC Solo Movie
The new Joker movie is set to be a gritty 80s crime movie. Here are all the details.
Well this is VERY exciting!
According to reports, a new Joker spin-off movie is in the works from director Todd Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix currently in talks to take the leading role. Better still, the new movie will be produced by none other than Martin Scorsese!
Some sources are claiming that Phoenix has already signed on to star, although no official confirmation has come from Warner Bros. just yet. As well as directing, Phillips will co-write with Scott Silver, with the story to be set in an ‘80s Gotham City.
The new film will be the first in a new strand of DC movies, and won’t influence any future plans for Jared Leto’s incarnation of the character. The understanding is that story will be tonally closer to a hard-boiled crime thriller than the traditional superhero movie, which might go some way towards explaining Scorsese’s involvement.
No release date has been confirmed at this stage, but expect some more concrete details when Warner releases an official announcement. All together now… “Why… So… Serious?”
