Joey Bada$$ has been charged with assault after an incident at an Australian music festival.
According to BBC News, the 19-year old found himself in trouble with the law after allegedly breaking a security guard's nose when asked to prove his identity at The Falls Music and Arts Festival in Byron Bay on January 2.
A police statement claims that the Christ Conscious rapper was walking up to the stage when he was asked for ID before his set, causing Joey to punch the 20-year old guard in the face.
Bada$$ - real name Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott - was later charged with assault causing bodily harm and spent the night in police custody.
He appeared in court on January 3 before being released on unconditional bail.
Appearing to later comment on the episode, Scott tweeted: "The crucification of my image has already begun. Remember don't believe everything you see or hear. They build u up to tear you down…"
If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum of five years behind bars.
