John Lewis' Monty The Penguin Advert Will Melt Your Heart
Feast your mince pies on department store's Christmas advert...
A computer-generated penguin is the star of this year's John Lewis Christmas advert - which has launched today on social media.
The seabird, called Monty, is the best friend of a little boy - and the two-minute-and-10-second ad shows the pair of them playing hide-and-seek, watching TV (Pingu obvs) and bouncing on a trampoline together.
All this while Tom Odell's tender cover version of John Lennon song Real Love plays in the background.
But despite the lad sneaking fishfingers to his feathered friend, the bird seems unsatisfied - gazing longingly at couples in love.
All is resolved on Christmas morning - but we'll leave you to discover the tear-jerking twist for yourself.
Just pass us that box of tissues first please.
***UPDATE*** And the memes have already begun... here it is recut to the horror of The Babadook. Enjoy!
Yellow lamps on blackened skies
Duffel hoods and deep brown eyes
I'll sing you a song that I think you'll like
And we'll walk the places we always go
A million faces I don't know
I'll say the words you'd always hope sets our hearts racing
Even though
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
Every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
It's just every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling on you
On the way you stand
On the way you sway
The way your hair curls in the rain
The little lines that write your face
Or the winter nights, you'd come and stay
Or the way you hit me when you wanna fight
The way you yearn, the way you cry
The way our love rolls with the tides
But we know we'll make up every time
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
Every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
It's just every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling on you
Oh, won't you bring me all the things I need
Like falling rain to a rolling sea
Oh, won't you bring me all the things I need
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
It's just every time I run
I keep on falling
I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
It's just every time I run
I keep on falling
And I know what you told me
I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
Every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling
And I know what you told me
And I know that it's all over
And I know I can't keep calling
Every time I run, yeah
I keep on falling on you
