SINGLES

John Newman –Olé

When we spoke to John Newman back in May, he said that thistrack isso incredible it"shocked" both himself and Calvin.

But you’ll probably have heard about this one and its lyrics already for other reasons. Penned by Calvin Harris, this is the track that a lot of online commentators believe is all about Harris’ break-up with Taylor Swift.

Whether that is true or not isn’t clear, but with lyrics such as “But I see online that you've begun to be/A good girl and take trips with your boyfriend/Being attentive, continue to pretend,” you can see why certain people have started to salivate all over their keyboards at thethought that Calvin Harris is using the song to diss Taylor. Putting all that aside, this is the perfect Friday evening song – chilled guitar twangs and measured drum beats compliment John Newman’s restrained, yet solid as ever vocals. A relaxing treat.

Olly Murs - You Don't Know Love

He might not have won the X Factor all those years ago, but with four multi-platinum selling albums behind him, Olly Murs is going from strength to strength. He’ll be supporting Take That in Hyde Park very soon, but before that Olly's released a mid-tempo, pulsating pop track that, much like the above entry, is also about a relationship gone wrong :(

Lady Leshurr Ft. Wiley - Where Are You Now

After going viral last year with the final third of her ‘Queen’s Speech’ freestyles “BRUSH YOUR TEETH!” – Lady Leshurr is back with the first single from her long-awaited debut 'Queen of the Scene'. This combative first look takes aim and fires at all Lady Leshurr’s peers who couldn’t keep up “Where are you now/Cus I can't see ya”. Set to a furious pace, ‘Where Are You Now’ never lets up. We can’t wait to hear more. QUEEN.

RAT BOY - Get Over It

One of 2016’s most hyped indie rockers, RAT BOY has just dropped the summery title track from his forthcoming EP of the same name. RAT BOY has been fairly compared to Jamie T – which is high praise indeed - with his past releases, but this latest cut sees him taking a loopy new approach. As always, it’s a lot of fun. RAT BOY is making this year his own.

Wretch 32 – Liberation

The North Londoner has dropped the latest single following his mixtape 'Young Fire, Old Flame'. It’s supremely confident and, with its socially minded lyrics "shaped like gorilla / that's how they get away when they kill us" it packs a powerful punch. It’s great to see Wretch 32 putting out work like this. Check the stylish black and white video below.

ALBUMS

Biffy Clyro – Ellipsis

With tracks called 'Howl', 'Animal Style' and 'Flammable' - The Biff are getting wild on their SEVENTH studio album. Will the final product live up to their adventurous previous efforts?

Shura - Nothing's Real

Manchester’s Alexandra Lilah Denton – better known as Shura – has been building up to the release of her debut 'Nothing’s Real' for just over two years now. She’s one of the most exciting new pop artists, and this first album promises even more of her killer melodies and intelligent, darker-than-you-might-think lyrics. GO SHURA!

Lawson - Perspective

Four years on from their debut, the Lawson lads release their second album. Check their ‘Where My Love Goes’ video featuring front man and lead guitarist Andy Brown proposing to his girlfriend at the band’s music video shoot. Aww.

gnash - me (EP)
