Johnny Depp could have a magical new role on his hands if he signs up to play Harry Houdini in an upcoming biopic.
The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero is a Lionsgate/Summit project and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny is currently in negotiations over the starring role. Dean Parisot, the man behind Red 2, is directing.
The biopic about legendary escape artist Houdini is scheduled to start filming at the end of this year, meaning – if Depp was cast – that filming of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth POTC movie, would be delayed until 2015.
Johnny is also set to star in the sequel to 2010 movie Alice In Wonderland, which will be called Alice Through The Looking Glass, shooting this year. He has already worked with Lionsgate on upcoming release Mortdecai.
