Ok, this is getting really exciting now. As if we weren’t already hyped enough about Warner and DC’s new Joker spin-off, the latest Hollywood buzz is reporting that none other than Robert De Niro is on the brink of joining the cast.

According to reports, De Niro is in talks to star as a TV talk-show host who plays some part in tipping the Joker over the edge from failed stand-up to full-on criminal loon. Which quite frankly sounds like something we’d very much be on board with.

Joaquin Phoenix is already confirmed to play Mr. J, with the film set to draw on the mood and plot of Alan Moore’s classic comic, The Killing Joke.

Director Todd Phillips has previously likened the movie to an ‘80s crime flick, so expect this one to be more like The Dark Knight than Batman & Robin.

Officially titled The Joker, the new film is slated to hit cinemas on 4 October 2019. Start counting down the days!
