Julia Roberts Goes From Pretty Woman To Hot Man In New Givenchy Ads
The actress works the androgynous look for Riccardo Tisci…
She shot to fame in 1990 romcom Pretty Woman, but Julia Roberts’ latest role sees her flexing a little mannish style, as the new face of Givenchy.
“WELCOME DEAR JULIA,” Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci wrote on Instagram, posting three androgynous campaign shots of the 47-year-old actress, who fronts the label for Spring/Summer 2015.
Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and styled by Katy England, the first photo sees Julia clad in a black trouser suit and shirt with contrasting white collar. Her hair is doing that whole ‘unstyled’ thing and the natural beauty wears no make-up.
For the second image, Julia slips into a little black dress, over a white shirt. A cross-body bag and matching black leather belt are both adorned with oversized studs, while the third shot posted by Riccardo sees Ms. Roberts soften, in a sheer black blouse with lace detail.
“Julia, you don’t see her much, she doesn’t do fashion campaigns, she has this big contract for many years which we all know with Lancôme,” Riccardo told Style.com. “When I asked, I was very surprised that she said yes.
“The first time Julia contacted me to work with me was for the red carpet and she wanted my tuxedo. I thought it would be amazing [to get her] for the campaign. I respect her a lot as a beauty and as a woman. She’s a very intelligent girl. And a very funny girl. Super-funny.”
So there you go. Julia Roberts: not just a pretty woman.
