MTV presenter and model Sam Sarpong has died after jumping from a bridge in California.

"It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel ‘Sam’ Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away," Sarpong’s publicist said in a statement Wednesday.

"The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time."

The statement continued, "The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time."

It is reported that police spent seven hours trying to talk Samaway from the edge of the bridge on Monday in Pasedena before he jumped.

He was the older brother of T4 presenter June Sarpong, as well as a co-host of MTV show Yo Momma alongside Wilmer Valderrama.

June said in a statement: "I love my brother very much. Sam was an amazing human being. His passing is a loss for the world."
