DC has dropped some major Justice League news in its 2017 preview announcement, revealing that both Jesse Eisenberg and Connie Neilsen will be joining the fun as Lex Luthor and Queen Hippolyta respectively.
It had already been rumoured that Lex would be making an appearance, with the villainous businessman having been carted off to Arkham at the end of Batman vs. Superman. He’s a character with strong links to chief baddie Steppenwolf, so presumably he’ll be up to no good again this time out.
As for Hippolyta, she won’t be making her screen debut until Wonder Woman hits cinemas next year, so we don’t know quite how she’ll fit into proceedings at this stage. However, there’s also a shiny new synopsis to shed a little more light on what we can expect from the plot…
“Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat,” reads the official blurb. “But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes - Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash - it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
Sounds like we’re in line for quite the showdown, doesn’t it? Directed by Zack Snyder and co-starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, Justice League will open on 17 November 2017.
