Bieber Documentary Third Highest Grossing Of All Time
Justin’s Never Say Never is even tipped for next year’s Oscars…
Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never film has become the third highest grossing documentary of all time, only three weeks after its release!
The intimate look at the star’s rise to fame has grossed over $64m, making it likely to surpass the second highest grossing documentary, March Of The Penguins, which made $77m. The top grossing film in that category is Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 which earned $119m, according to US box office stats.
The numbers have made Hollywood heavyweights sit and up take notice of the U Smile star’s influence and already insiders are talking about a nomination in the relevant category at next year’s Oscars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy voters weren’t just impressed by the documentary but by Justin himself, who met industry insiders at Vanity Fair’s recent Oscars after-party.
"You'd be surprised at the calibre of people who came up to Justin at the Vanity Fair party, most of whom had seen the movie and loved it," a source told the magazine. "There was even talk of putting it up for an Oscar next year in the documentary category. People appreciate that it's not just a kids' movie."
Never Say Never also enjoyed the biggest opening weekend of any documentary in history, overtaking previous front-runner Fahrenheit 9/11 with takings of $29.5m.
