Fan Account Of The Week: @JBCrewdotcom

We get to know the people behind this MASSIVE account...

This week, we speak to Lauren, 19, from Newcastle upon Tyne and owner of @JBCrewdotcom, the biggest Justin Bieber fan account on Twitter! The account is run by five super fans based all around the world. They even have dedicated shift times to make sure someone is on the account at all times!

Tell us all about @JBCrewdotcom

I (Lauren) am the owner of Justin Bieber Crew. However, I have an awesome team with me… JBC has a base of five fans (myself; Ashley, 16, USA; Kim, 16, Netherlands; Maria, 19, Florida; and Bella, 17, Brazil). We all have set times to be on the page, but if one person is unable to do their shift, somebody else will step in. We tend to run into each other’s shifts because we love being on the page and updating.

For example, my shift may last 8 to 9 hours, but I usually stay on whilst the other person is updating to ensure nothing is missed. It's fun, we enjoy it! Also, during big show days we have two or more people updating. We also have members who only have access to Tweetdeck page for updates, and they are just helpers for when nobody can be online (Julieta, Christine & Rebecca).

How long have you been a fan of Justin?

I have been a fan of Justin since the very end of 2009, and I ended up making my first Justin Bieber related fan account on January 15th, 2010 to support and follow up on everything that was happening, in terms of Bieber.

Why are you a fan of him?

I am a fan of Justin because, not only does he release great music with incredible lyrics and beats, but he also does his best to ensure that his music and fans are always his number one priority. Even during his "rough" times, he still made sure to get stuck into the studio to do what he loved, and what he is here for.

When he wants to stop for fans and is not getting bombarded, he always makes sure to take the time out of his day to do so. He likes to MEET the fans, rather than just taking photos - he wants them to have that experience of actually meeting and having a conversation with him. This shows somebody who actually cares about getting to know his fans properly, and in meet and greets he can't really do that.

How much time do you devote to running this account?

I usually dedicate around 8 to 9 hours on the account during my shifts, but then sometimes I may stay up for another few hours to just help out and make sure everything's being updated. However, on my days off school I like to have my long lie-ins, haha. As a team, we spend and dedicate a lot of our time to Justin Bieber Crew, but it pays off and we are so thankful that people use us as a source of information.

Has Justin ever noticed the account?

Yes, he has noticed the account! It is a great feeling to know that your hard work has been noticed and appreciated by him and the team. It really gives us a buzz of excitement to know that he has come across our page several times, out of all the fan accounts on Twitter! We appreciate all of it.

Do you have a favourite song?

My favourite Justin Bieber song has to be 'Been You'...it's a total smash and should have been put onto the original album, instead of just 'Deluxe'. It is also my mam's favourite song, and she's pretty annoyed that it was not his new single! Haha.

There was so much hype around the release of Purpose, do you think it lived up to it?

Definitely! 'Purpose' has changed so many opinions of the general public, and to think that 'Love Yourself' wasn't even released as a single, but now look at it! It got so big due to the general public's response...he had no promotion, didn't sing it at his appearances, but it totally blew up! Also, my mam is not even a Bieber fan and in previous years, never liked his songs.

However, this time around she has admitted to liking a few of them ('Sorry', 'Been You' and'Get Used To It') so it has been a success in my household too. Also, my cousins and Auntie have also admitted to liking his songs now, which they never used to. It's great to see him getting new and older fans...broadening his fanbase is only a good thing!

Do you feel people take Justin more seriously as an artist after Purpose?

People definitely take him more seriously now, and I believe that it is because he's now taking himself seriously. He has released some bangers and people of all ages have been jamming to them in clubs and other parties, as well as just from their iTunes/music gallery. They are certainly taking him more seriously as an artist.

Have you ever met him person?!

I have, yes! I met him on February 21, 2013 at the meet and greet in Manchester. It was the most surreal experience of my life and it will never be forgotten. Although I cannot remember what I even said to him since it was so fast, it was still an unbelievable experience. If I was to speak to him in a less rushed environment, I would definitely just make him feel normal and have a casual conversation. Personally, I wouldn't want to scare him by saying, "I love you", "you're awesome" and "thank you for everything", but that's just me!

Have you seen him perform live?

I saw Justin Bieber live on March 12th, 2011 in Newcastle Upon Tyne for the first time, and it was the most surreal experience. I may not have had the best seats, but it didn't matter - the buzz and atmosphere was incredible and it was the first time seeing him live, so it is definitely an amazing memory. I then saw Justin on February 21st, 2013 in Manchester where I was fortunate enough to get the meet and greet and front row tickets. Wow. First time being this close to him, after first seeing him like a tiny white little running man. Cannot even put into words how incredible this experience was.

I also saw him live at 'TFI Friday' in October of last year (2015) which was unbelievable...(thanks to Scrappy (James Stassen), former stage manager for Justin Bieber!) I was able to watch him slide down the slide belly-first right next to me, watch his interview take place, watch him perform 'What Do You Mean?'and also managed to stand right next to him whilst we all put our noses in the paint, haha! It was such a fun interview, and so worth travelling 6+ hours!

And FINALLY, your thoughts on Jelena? Will we see ever them together again?

It's in the past and I don't really follow up on this whole "shipping" nonsense, I just stay out of it. If they decide to get back, cool. If they decide to keep moving their separate ways, cool. His life, his decisions!
