From Justin Bieber To Taylor Swift: 9 Celebrity Death Hoaxes That Had The Internet Fooled

These celebrities can't come to the phone right now. Why? Because they're (not) dead.

Probably the worst thing about being a celebrity (aside from the lack of privacy and constant speculation about your private life) is the fact that trolls just won't stop spreading rumours that you’ve prematurely popped your clogs.

From Miley Cyrus to Justin Bieber, the following nine celebrities have all had that awkward moment where they’ve had to call up friends and relatives to assure them that they're still alive.

'Let's get checking out a bunch of celebrities who got savage revenge on their ex...'

Sylvester Stallone

The Rocky champ was the victim of a death hoax in 2018 after a report came out of nowhere claiming that he’d physically and spiritually checked out. He cleared up the rumours on social-media: "Please ignore this stupidity... Alive and well and happy and healthy... Still punching.”

Adam Sandler

The Big Daddy actor was killed off in 2010 when people were convinced that he’d had a snowboarding accident in Switzerland and succumbed to hisinjuries. Yep,you’ve got give these trolls props for theirdark, twisted, and totally unethical creativity.

Jackie Chan

We’ve honestly lost count of the number of times the iconic martial arts star has supposedly died. Fun fact: His manager once dialled him up from the U.Safter a particularly nasty report had the world convinced that he’d passed away for real this time.

Will Ferrell

Back in 2006, a random and totally out-of-the-blue story surfaced claiming that everyone’s favourite comedian had been involved in a paragliding accident that went fatally wrong. Again, a very creative (if totally inaccurate) tale of his rumoured death.

Russell Crowe

The Gladiator actor is something of an outdoorsy type, which is why people fell hook, line, and sinker for reports that he’d climbed a mountain, slipped on the rocky terrain, and plunged straight off the edge to his untimely death. Crikey.

Taylor Swift

The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s dead. Or at least, that’s what people thought in 2009 when a rumour began making its way around the internet that the country singer had experienced an allergic reaction to sleeping pills.

Morgan Freeman

This reportedly gained traction online when people claimed that CNN Breaking News had retweeted a report claiming that the actor had been found dead in his home in 2010. The news agency denied doing anything of the sort, and the internet breathed a collective sigh of relief when Morgan was found safe and well.

Miley Cyrus

Congratulations are in order for Miley Cyrus who is currently on her fourth online life. That’s right, she was rumoured to have died in 2007, before having a car crash in 2008, before then being found dead in a bathtub in 2015. Yikes. Poor girl has been through a lot.

Justin Bieber

Belieber'slost their minds in 2010 when a bogus rumour surfaced that the then 16-year-old singer had died, cause unknown. Obviously this later turned out to be a total lie and fans have since learned to be a bit more cynical about so-called insider reports.
