Justin Bieber And Skrillex Are Being Sued Over The Best Part Of 'Sorry'
Justin Bieber and Skrillex have found themselves being sued by Casey Daniel, who claims they stole the opening riff from her.
Is it too late now to say Sorry?
Well it could be if Justin Bieber and Skrillex are found guilty of copyright infringement.
The ‘Where Are Ü Now’ team is being sued by singer-songwriter Casey Daniel, stage name White Hinterland, over the opening riff of their mega hit ‘Sorry’.
AKA THE BEST PART.
Casey alleges that they stole said riff from her 2014 song ‘Ring the Bell’, which, in case youwere wondering, sounds like this:
Her legal complaint, obtained by EW, states: “The identical and/or striking similarity of ‘Sorry’ to Plaintiff’s song ‘Ring the Bell’ surpasses the realm of generic coincidence and independent creation.”
The case follows the landmark jury decision made in 2015 where Pharrell and Robin Thicke had to pay Marvin Gaye’s family $7.4 million after they borrowed from track ‘Got To Give It Up’ on their song ‘Blurred Lines’.
