Justin Bieber was at the Los Angeles nightclub where hip-hop industry figure Suge Knight was shot on Friday night, it has emerged.

The pop idol had been invited to the 1OAK club in West Hollywood by Chris Brown - who was hosting an unofficial pre-VMAs party there.

The Sun quoted a source as saying: "He was attending the Chris Brown party as a guest. Obviously everyone was very worried but luckily he was fine."

It has since been claimed on social media by revellers that Breezy himself was the target of the gunman.

And US gossip site TMZ, which has been leading reporting of the story, claims that gang rivalry is being investigated by police as a likely lead.

The site wrote: "We're told cops are interested in a common denominator with Chris Brown, Suge and Game - Bloods affiliation.

"Eyewitnesses tell us Brown was throwing up gang signs before the shooting inside 1OAK early Sunday and he was performing with a red bandana - the Bloods' moniker."

Rapper Game and Knight have also been linked to the infamous LA gang.
