Justin Bieber's Speeding Ticket After 'Pap Chase'
Star claims he was being pursued by photographers when cops nabbed him...
Justin Bieberhas been given a speeding ticket by police in Los Angeles after an alleged high-speed chase with paparazzi photographers.
The teen pop idol was handed the ticket when he was pulled over by a police car yesterday morning - but he insisted that he had been trying to escape the paps.
Officer Ming Hsu of the California Highway Patrol told the Associated Press that police knew at least one vehicle had been pursuing Biebs.
He said: "The second vehicle left the area and there's a search to find that driver."
The Mirror quotes a local politician and former police officer called Dennis Zine, who called the authorities after seeing JB's distinctive chrome-plated electric car being pursued at a speed he estimated to be over 100mph, weaving across the road.
Mr Zine said: "This was very bizarre, very outrageous and showed a total disregard for life and property.
"The way [Bieber] was driving was totally reckless, I would have arrested him if I had pulled him over. I wouldn't have given him a ticket and let him go."
While a spokesperson for Bieber had no comment at press time, his manager, Scooter Braun, denied Zine's claims and said the councillor was just "looking for a headline".
Braun said Bieber was given the ticket for going at 80mph and that he was being chased by photographers at the time.
He added that the paparazzi resumed their chase a short time after Bieber was pulled over, prompting the young star to call 911 for help.
We told you yesterday how concerns had been voiced about JB's relationship with Selena Gomez.
