Justin Timberlake's Latest Selfie Nearly Landed Him In Jail
Justin Timberlake flew ALL the way from LA to his hometown Memphis, Tennessee to vote in the 2016 US Presidential Election, even encouraging his 37 million followers to get in on the action too.
What a great guy. Trouble is, he took a selfie in the voting booth (which is illegal) and meant that he'd risked a possible prison sentence!
He posted a ballot seflie to his Instagram account on Monday, with the caption: 'Hey! You! Yeah, YOU! I just flew from LA to Memphis to #rockthevote !!! No excuses, my good people! There could be early voting in your town too. If not, November 8th! Choose to have a voice! If you don't, then we can't HEAR YOU! Get out and VOTE! #excerciseyourrighttovote.'
Using electronic devices inside polling stations to take videos, photos or recording audio was made illegal in Tennessee in 2015, with a penalty of up to 30 days in jail and a $50 fine.
However, the spokesman for the Tennessee Secretary of State's office admitted: "We're thrilled Justin can't stop the feeling when it comes to voting so much that he voted early in person and is promoting voting to his millions of fans."
So thankfully, the controversial picture doesn't seem to be under review for now.
Phew. Just be careful where you take selfies next time, Justin!
