Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson Reckons He's Made Talent Shows Cool Again

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson just wrapped up his first season as a coach on The Voice and now he’s getting ‘vocal’ about his impact on TV talent shows.
In fact, he’s even taking credit for Coldplay’s Chris Martin appearing on the US version of The Voice.
“This is me being a big head here, so I need to be careful – but when it was announced that Chris Martin was doing the American one…I’d like to think that it came into his head when he was offered it that it was maybe something that we’re allowed to do,” Ricky told the Metro.
“I was probably the first alternative musician to judge on a reality show and I think it was a brave step to do that, but I see it as a step in the door.”
When it comes to the talent, however, the I Predict A Riot singer thinks it’s unlikely they will ever find the next Coldplay or Kaiser Chiefs on a television show.
“I don’t think the world is ready for that yet because I don’t think any bands would go on it yet,” he said.
“You can’t jump in there with loads of guitars and be swigging beer from plastic cups on prime time TV like we do on stage, but I think we can get our foot in the door. But we are going to have to open it very gently.”
Earlier this week Ricky revealed he hasn’t been asked back yet for the next series of The Voice. "People keep telling me rumours of who might join the panel and I'm not sure there'd be a space for me,” he told The Sun.
