Kaisers: "Mika Must Go"
The Leeds lads say it's time for a change in chart land...
Kaiser Chiefs says it's about time Mika got knocked off the No 1 singles spot - and they're ready to do it.
According to midweek charts, the Leeds lads should have no problem - their comeback tune 'Ruby' has already knocked 'Grace Kelly' down to No 2.
"It'd be better if we were knocking someone else off the top, say the Beatles, but I reckon it's for his (Mika's) own good," Chiefs bassist Simon Rix told MTV.co.uk.
"It's quite lucky he's been at No 1 (for so long) but there hasn't been much (competition) around recently. When 'Grace Kelly' first came out me and my girlfriend both said, 'it's a good tune', but it's been on everything now and it's become really annoying."
Still, Simon is not counting his chickens: "I'm really excited at the thought of a No 1 but we haven't celebrated yet. We're too superstitious.
"I remember hearing we were at No 11 in the midweeks when 'I Predict A Riot' came out. We were all really excited but then it slipped down to No 22 by the weekend and we were left feeling disappointed.
"This weekend I'm going to try and do it the old-fashioned way: tell people I don't want to find out in advance, and listen to the Top 40 with everyone else!"
Good luck, boys!
