Chris Brown & Kanye Win Big

Ladies favourite Chris Brown cleaned up at the American Music Awards on Sunday (23 November), collecting three awards including Artist Of The Year and Favourite R&B Male.

Alicia Keys was widely expected to be the big winner with her five nominations but 19-year-old Brown came out on top - with Rihanna also picking up more awards then Ms Keys who only managed to bag one.

Brown told reporters backstage that he was as shocked as everybody else to receive the Artist Of The Year award and thought Coldplay should have genuinely won

Kanye West also picked up a couple of awards, including Favourite Male in the Rap/Hip Hop category but in a modest move dedicated the award to Lil Wayne:

"If it was last year, this would have been my award

This year, it's Wayne's award. We'll see what happens next year."

In typical Kanye style, the producer extraordinaire challenged music artists to regain the spirit of artists like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin and be legends - announcing:

"I wanna be Elvis!"
