Kanye Samples Aphex Twin

The track Blame Game features in his new film Runaway- which was screened last night in London.

 

It includes much of Aphex’s minimal piano track Avril 14, which from his 2001 album Drukqs.

 

After the 35 minute movie was shown the rapper confirmed the title and said that the version heard features his long time collaborator John Legend.

 

He explained the song had been influenced by his love of Portishead and called the track an “Apartment song- for when you’re chilling at home.”

 

Kanye talked about many of his collaborators at the Q&A that followed last night’s screening.

 

He confirmed he’d been in the studio with Alicia Keys, M.I.A, Kid Cudi, Mos Def and Santigold during sessions for his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.

 

And of folk act Bon Iver the Chicago MC revealed he’s “over the whole album.”
