Kanye West has revealed that Kim Kardashian’s robbery had such an effect on his mental health that it triggered the emotional breakdown that led to his hospitalization back in November 2016.

In a two-hour interview with Charlamagne Tha God from iHeartRadio’s The Breakfast Club, Kanyerevealed that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s ordeal was just one of several factors that contributed to the situation.

He also namechecked the lasting effects of his “Taylor Swift moment” and his struggle with being respected in the fashion industry as being elements that worsened the state of his mental wellbeing.

But it was the Paris robbery – which saw Kim being held at gunpoint and robbed of $11 million worth of jewellery – that left him feeling particularly helpless, with Kanye saying that he still struggles to comprehend how carefully the whole thing wasplanned out.

“The situation with my wife in Paris — and all of the elements, you’re feeling like helpless, you’re feeling like what else can you do,” he said. “I went to Paris on that trip to protect her. Not protect her physically, but to go and just help her with her looks ‘cause she’s in Paris.

“One of the things that she said that she heard was that they were coming to rob her and they had to wait til’ I had left. The people had been strategizing and scheming on that for a long time.

Pointing out that there are still so many unanswered questions around the case, he added: “So when she finally got to Paris by herself, they were like, ‘Okay, this is our chance.’ The robbery — I don’t know where that came from. Was there a bigger plan, a bigger set up?”

Kanye added that he is now on several different medications and claimed that he's in a "stronger place" rn than he ever was before the breakdown.
