Kanye’s Secret Show
The rapper teams up with John Legend and Estelle to perform for 200 people...
Kanye West has performed a secret gig in New York for just 200 people; a mixture of celebrities and industry insiders.
Guests, including our friends at MTV US, received details of the gig at the last minute, and had to phone a special number to find out the location – burlesque club The Box on the Lower East Side. A strict dress code was applied; all attendees were told to come suited and booted for the one-off performance.
Kanye and John Legendtook to the tiny stage past midnight, both dressed to kill. With Legend behind the piano, they opened the show with Mos Def, Mr Hudson, Kid Cudiand Estelle were among the stars in the audience. Midway through the set Estelle jumped on stage for an impromptu performance of Billy Joelclassic Movin’ Out.
The performance came to a close at 3am with 2007 hit Can’t Tell Me Nothing. Afterwards, Kanye put on sunglasses and stepped off the stage and into the crowd to have a drink with friends.
His new LP is due out in November.
