Kasabian Rock The Roundhouse With A Decade Of Raucous Anthems

REVIEW: The 2014 iTunes Festival continues with a full performance of their first LP!

The iTunes Festival may have kicked off earlier this weekbut it was last night that things got properly going.

Such is the incredible wave they’re riding right now, the Leicester lads Kasabian had the audacity to be the supporting act for themselves – playing their debut album start to finish before disappearing only to return 20 minutes later to play a more predictable set featuring some of their newer, more brash material.

Feeling: Rowdy and unruly, just what you’d expect seeing a band like Kasabian. It was even kicking off in the seated tier.

The Look: Nothing special. Serge had a white T on saying ‘bin bag’. Yeah, no idea either…

The Tunes: So many. This was officially Kasabian’s longest ever set, full of all the crowd pleasers you’d expect such as Underdog, Fire, Days Are Forgotten, but it was their classics off their debut album that were the real treat like Club Foot and Cutt Off (not played live since 2011).

[related]Banter: Everyone knows these guys are proper lads, they don’t need to prove it anymore. A few cheeky bum slaps and pecks on the cheek between Serge and Tom is about all we got.

Special Guests: Skeleton costume wearing violin quartet. Just accept it.

Sweat Factor: Oh yeah, sweat everywhere. Serge said at one point: “This isn’t for the chin strokers”. He definitely got the reaction he was looking for.

Summary: With the year they’vehad you’d almost forgive them for a solid yet unspectacular show. But this is Kasabian and they just don’t do that. Few bands would dare play their debut album in full, just as a warm up. But Kasabian did and that just shows how far they’ve come as a band and will no doubt be the reason why this gig will go down as one of their very best.
