It has been confirmed that Kate Mosswill pose naked for Playboy magazine for her 40th birthday.

The supermodel is reported by the Daily Mail to have already done the photoshoot - which is set to appear in the magazine to mark its own 60th anniversary.

Playboy's editorial director, Jimmy Jellinek, told the Los Angeles Times: "This is a massive global brand. You need a global icon in order to celebrate that — that was the impetus. You're talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy.

"She's the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years.

"This creates a heat for the brand globally. It started with Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Playboy 60 years ago, an icon for her time. Now we've got Kate Moss!"

And Playboy founder Hugh Hefner was also enthusiastic about the news.

"She's a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modelling. It's a natural for us."

Kate is 40 in January and is thought to have sat for the shoot with photographers Marcus Pigott and Mert Atlas.

The Mail claims that she was so pleased with the results that she has commissioned prominent portrait artist Chuck Close to produce an original artwork based on the shoot.
