Katy Perry has revealed her mother 'thanked God every day' after she divorced funnyman, Russell Brand.
The Teenage Dream singer - whose parents Keith and Mary Hudson are Christian pastors - explained how her they brought her up to have liberal views when it comes to relationships.
She is quoted by The Sun as saying: "I thank God every day for having made us all the same way and I pray for anyone who fights for freedom of speech."
K-Pez went on to state that her highly-religious folks were not upset after her 14 month marriage to Brand came to an end, stating: “I’m pro-gay marriage and want equality between genders. My mom thanks God every day for my divorce.”
The 27-year old added that while her parents may liberal views about romance, Mary and Keith were not as open when it came to the type of music she listened to.
Katy concluded: "Growing up, I wasn’t allowed to listen to non-religious music. Madonna, my idol, was considered worse than the devil.”
