If only there was an award for Best VMAs red carpet oufit, Katy Perry and Riff Raff would definitely win, with their homage to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s double denim moment.

Throwing back to the 2001 American Music Awards (not the VMAs as you might have thought, guys), K-Pez and Riff arrived at the Forum in Inglewood, California, decked out in near-identical copies of Britney and Justin’s iconic look.

“WE'RE GOIN FOR DA BEST WORST DRESSED TODAY #THISISHOWWEDOVMAS,” Katy tweeted earlier on Sunday.

“I must admit my outfit is a result of my love for nostalgia and my tumblr addiction,” she said in a later tweet.

Meanwhile Riff Raff tweeted, “MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE @MTV VERSACE VMAS TODAY ! #SometimesTheyDontFeelYouTilYouPullUpLamborghini.”

While we love that this is how the duo have chosen to promote Riff Raff’s remix of K-Pez’s new single This Is How We Do, we can’t help but wonder how Diplo might have looked in that denim ensemble…
