Following the shocking but not surprising news that Russell Brand has Katy Perry, it has emerged that the singer may have wanted her hubby to initiate proceedings.
US gossip site TMZ has been told by a source that Katy is concerned about upsetting her ultra-religious parents and so got Russ to file for divorce.
The source also claims that the couple knew they were in trouble a while ago, but have been trying to patch things up for a few months before finally admitting that "it just wasn't there".
TMZ also claims that they had agreed a few weeks ago to divorce but wanted to be out of town when the brown stuff hit the fan - so she headed off for Hawaii while he came back to Blighty.
Russell broke the news of their divorce yesterday in a statement that said: "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
