Rose-Tinted Glasses At The Ready - Katy Perry Is Performing At The BRIT Awards 2017
It's her first UK TV performance in over three years!
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time"
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
I must stay conscious
Through the madness and chaos
So I call on my angels
They say...
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in your veins
You know it, you know it
And you will not negotiate
Just fight it, just fight it
And be transformed
'Cause when, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time"
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Oh, oh, oh, oh
You know it, you know it
Still rise
Just fight it, just fight it
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
Get ready for ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ – Katy Perry is coming to London later this month.
Her first UK TV appearance in three years (how has it been that long?), Katy will join a bumper set of performing artists at The BRIT Awards 2017, including Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, Bruno Mars, The 1975, Little Mix, Emeli Sandé and Skepta.
“I’m excited to come back to one of my favourite countries, where most of my favourite musical influences come from,” said Katy. “After 3 years, I’m excited to return to the Brits’ stage to kick off a new era of purposeful pop.”
Katy Perry, who won a BRIT for International Female Solo Artist back in 2009, is one of the best-selling artists of all time – with over 100 million records sold to date – and that’s before she releases the long-awaited follow up to her last album, PRISM. We got our first taste of that new record last week in the shape of retro disco single ‘Chained To The Rhythm’, which featured Bob Marley’s grandson, Skip Marley.

The BRIT Awards 2017 will take place from 7.30pm on ITV on February 22 at the O2 Arena, London. Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis will be hosting, taking over from Michael Bublé, who pulled out last month, saying that he wanted to concentrate on caring for three-year-old son, Noah, who has liver cancer.
Skepta and Little Mix lead the nominations with three each. For the full list of this year’s nominees, head here.
