Most excellent news Bill & Ted movie fans - a director has reportedly been signed for a belated threequel.
Vulture reports that Dean Parisot, who directed Galaxy Quest, has been attached to helm Bill & Ted 3 - with stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter already on board to reprise their lead roles.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and the follow-up Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey were hugely popular when released in 1989 and 1991 respectively, bringing catchphrases like "most excellent", "bogus", "totally awesome" and "party on dudes" with them.
MGM apparently retains the rights to the characters, and is claimed to be shopping a script by the original writers around other studios seeking co-financing.
The aim is apparently to make a mid-budget comedy in the vein of Hot Tub Time Machine.
Bill & Ted creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson reportedly took the unusual step of writing the sequel script on spec in order to get the wheels moving on the project.
The new sequel is claimed to follow Bill and Ted's lives since the last movie, accounting for the fact that the leads are now 21 years older.
