Danny Cipriani: "I Can't Believe I'm Not Dead"
Kelly Brook's beau says he's very lucky to have survived bus smash...
As we previously reported, the rugby player was struck by the double-decker during a pub crawl with pals in Leeds - leaving him in hospital.
Danny has now broken his silence over the ordeal, telling The Sun: "I can't believe I'm not dead. I'm very lucky. It's just beginning to dawn on me - this nearly had a different outcome entirely.
"Because of the impact, I've got a bit of memory loss. I do remember looking over the road where another bus was heading towards a stop, about 30 metres away. As I crossed I got past a parked car, presuming the bus was stopping on the other side.
"I realised it hadn't stopped and was about to hit me pretty quickly. It was like a reflex reaction, I managed to jump just before the impact so I didn't end up under the wheels. I think my survival instincts must have kicked in.
"I've since found out the driver was in a real state of shock. I did some damage to the window. I'm glad he's okay. It was one of those things."
He then went on to address a gory snap of himself in a head brace - where his face is covered with blood - telling the tabloid: "One of my mates took it in the hospital ward waiting for X-rays.
"I can hardly bring myself to look at it. Kelly was worried, but she’s just glad it wasn’t worse.”
Cipriani now faces two months away from rugby while he recovers, explaining: "It's a case of resting up. This has been really unfortunate but I'm determined to get myself into the best shape I've ever been in.
"I've got a good excuse now not to drink. I can just say, 'No, last time I got run over by a bus'. I'll be keeping my head down for a bit."
After the accident, Kelly posted a video on Keek showing off Danny's injuries, urging those who are thinking of going on a pub crawl in the future to be "cautious."
She also rubbished rumours that she was angry with Cipriani, explaining that she made soup for two hours and has instead been a "loving nurse."
